What most appealed to you about this program? Making a difference in a young person’s life
What are some ways you use math at your job? Reviewing and analyzing financial statements
Who was your favorite math or science teacher? Why? Mr. Pabst, Sam Houston High School, was my favorite math teacher. He made the information interesting.
Why do you like math and science? What is your favorite math or science memory as a student?
I like math because of the direct relationship it has with accounting. Numbers can and do tell many stories. I also enjoyed science. However, dissecting a frog in high school was not my best moment.
What are some things you struggled with growing up? What was hard for you in school? What are some things that are challenging for you now?
Academics were not my biggest challenge growing up. As a portly child, I was often the object of many jokes. As I have grown older, I am still a bit “chunky” but better proportioned. Also, I now realize that my value and worth are not tied to others’ opinions.
What are some of your favorite things to do? What were a few of your hobbies growing up? What are your current hobbies and interests?
I loved playing football in the neighborhood.
As an adult, I like working out at the gym, watching football (college and professional) and working in the yard. Also, I love animal documentaries.
