In the 2013-2014 school year, the We Teach Science Foundation piloted the addition of interactive simulations of science experiments to our Remote Tutoring and Mentoring (RTM) program. Mentors and students explored an interactive, online simulation once a month that tied together both math and science concepts. Based on the results of the pilot, we’re excited to roll out this program to around 100 students this year!
Math is the language of science and engineering, and the RTM program is a great place to expose students to some of the many ways that math can help explain the world around us. We’re using simulations from PhET, a project based at the University of Colorado-Boulder. In the 2014-2015 school year, participating students will explore these activities:
Electric Field Hockey
Circuit Construction Kit
