Programs

The We Teach Science Foundation runs a number of S.T.E.M. related programs for students.  The mission of the foundation is to inspire students to excel in math and science.

Remote Tutoring and Mentoring

Our flagship program is the Remote Tutoring and Mentoring Program.  Professional mentors from a range of companies spend one hour per week mentoring students via a web-enabled white board.  Mentors and students share a white board and communicate using a VOIP audio connection. Currently this program serves 8th grade students in the Pacifica and Berryessa Union (East San Jose) school districts.

Mental Boot Camp

An intensive one-week program, the Mental Boot Camp is focused on accelerating the learning of some of the San Francisco Peninsula’s high potential young minds. It is directed at rising 6 -12th graders (we are willing to make

exceptions for particularly mature rising 5th graders) who demonstrate the motivation and ability to deepen their understanding of math, science and engineering. Although this is not an SAT-prep course, SAT-type problems are used heavily. The students are encouraged to take the SAT to assess their overall progress. The heavy thinking is  interspersed with creative and physical activities to ensure the flow of blood to both the body and brain!
